Introduction to Unit
My unit focuses on the novel Charlotte's
Web. The overall goal is for
students to understand that reading has meaning and often times relates to
our own personal experiences. I
also want my students to understand and be able to identify the different parts
of speech in reading and writing. In order
for students to meet the unit goals, they will be doing a variety of activities
that involve daily readings in the book, written responses in journals, group
discussions, and a variety of activities that introduce and review parts of
speech.

3.
Students will understand how to recognize the different parts of
speech—(nouns, proper nouns, pronouns, verbs, adjectives, and adverbs)—and
how these parts of speech influence reading and writing.
